Let me begin by saying that this article was very well written -your command in using the metaphorical, analogical style is phenomenal!

To my point: I am dismayed by the actions of Sen.Schumer and the other Democrats who voted against their constituents -even my Senator, Dick Durbin rode that ludicrous train! However, as dismayed as I am, I am using that feeling to ignite me to a call to action. The Party still has an opportunity to right this diabolical wrong and a change in leadership is necessarily the first step. If the “Timid Ten” want to continuously hold the premise of “going along to get along”, they need to find someplace else to do it, and definitely not at my expense and those who identify and relate to me.

Kendrick said it best: “They -‘Timid Ten’- not like us” and they’ve got to go!!!!

Peace and Blessings, my Sister! Continue to “Cry aloud and spare not; lift your voice as the sound of the trumpet”!!!

I don't hate Schumer and the other Democrats who voted for cloture and for the CR, but I do believe that they are wrong. I also believe that it's well past time for elder Congressional Democrats to step down from leadership positions and from Congress (Note: I'm 73). This generation was taught to compromise, to take their opponents at their word, and to be overly polite. It's time for a generational change in the Democratic Party. I have always been impressed with Nancy Pelosi but she knew it was time to step down. I don't advocate violence or insults or name calling, but there comes a time when you have to be honest and brave. You can't compromise or negotiate with liars, especially hateful liars.

I feel so abandoned it seems like there is no party standing for me! This is a fight for our constitution and for the dignity of all of us. Shame on these politicians!

As usual, a joyous read. The way you construct your posts using history, literature, etc., is masterful.

Of course, the subject matter, those who voted to hand over our Democracy led by Chuck Schumer, is not joyous in any way. I am just done with those who cling to th status quo and refuse to meet the moment with the push back required. Americans are going to push back loudly.

I am 63 years old and have seen this Party be led by the nose by the status quo they refuse to shake off. Times have changed. They changed before Trump's escalator ride, but our leaders continued to play the Republicans game believing they were negotiating in good faith.

It's time for a change, and We the People will usher in that change by standing up and letting our leaders know what we want and need from them...that actions speak louder than words.

Americans by the millions are still Canada’s friends. In fact, a huge majority stand by Canadians, but for a few radical sycophants, who follow a demented wanna-be dictator. The amicable relationship between our two countries will survive long after the temper tantrum Tasmanian toddler Trump has been purged from power. May his dismissal and demise be swift.

I have been concerned about what Trump/Musk would do if there was a shutdown. I fear they would leave the country shutdown. I think that possibility should be considered and modify the wrath against the Democratic Senators who voted against the shutdown.

Aside from a literal handful of the elected like Ocasio-Cortez, Jeffries, Pelosi, they're all f--ing traitors! Republican moles! PINO and Muskrat are dancing with glee as this decades-long conspiracy unfolds! Congress, the Supreme Court? They're TOTALLY unreliable parasites. Expect betrayal and the denigration of traditional values of decency. "We the people" are on our own!

Thank you for this! As for Chuck Schumer and the others who voted along with him:

When you give in to fascists, you become complicit. IMHO

I’m proud of my two senators, Murray & Cantwell, for their work against the MAGA madness.

Done with their spineless inaction! Some in congress are fighting. For them I am grateful. I do agree the unrelenting pushback has to come from us!

I'm sickened. Schumer and those who stood with him have shown their hands. They care only for their own interests, and aren't in the fight. I was blind to believe in my Democratic Party. No more. I'll put my money to individual campaigns and efforts, but never again to a broad Democratic Party, aimed at re-electing their weak candidates.

Nothing good came from the ashes of the Roman Empire. How often do we have to burn everything down before the human race stops trying to destroy itself? I'm ready and willing to challenge all the stupid people who created MAGA to help save this democracy from the neo-robber barons of the 21st century.

I was shocked by Sen. Schumer's action too at first, but maybe it was a machiavellian vs narcissism ploy to give MAGA enough rope to hang itself? The previous government shutdowns

in Trumps previous administration did much damage to our country. I am a novice at politics and would appreciate any feedback.
