Joy I am a white American liberal who marched with you in the 60s and I remain with you in the fight today. I will do the protesting and the work necessary and I hear you but I will NEVER vote for the maniac and will work until my end to bring back the America we ALL need.

This was great. Thank you for saying that us white folks need to build trust, produce visible results and tell other white folk what to do. Hard conversations but necessary.

I know america will not survive unless we as a country come together and fight and preserve our democracy before it is too late. The last 8years has been a challenge but time is now to make a difference.

This was so informative and powerful thank! Thank you for reminding us to take a break from this chaos. Joy, you are such a powerful, intelligent, well spoken, and down to earth human being. You make me so proud. Your Mamma did a tremendous job in guiding and developing you. God’s continued Blessings on you and your families lives and the important work that you do.

Joy thank you so much for explaining this situation that we are in to me. I am a proud Wisconsin resident and active marcher. I will continue to try and gain your trust again. I also thought the Black womenfolk would come and save us once again. With my privilege all my life I have not had to fight as hard as you and your family. I now know this is going to be a long and difficult fight. Thank you for giving me the courage and strength to fight. Love your mom she did do a great job. Love you and your name. Thank you Joy. I am a paid subscriber to you and I hope to see more of you in conversations like this. Sorry I missed the live version.

Joy, as I said to Don Lemon yesterday when he brought this up, I absolutely understand where you and other Black Women are in all of this. You have been betrayed by those Whites who continue to vote for those who look like them (unless they are a woman) in order to protect their White privilege. You are absolutely correct in saying, this is now your fight. We know what it is like to be oppressed and enslaved and ignored, now it's your turn.

Thank you Anand & Joy, for this excellent dialogue.

I had already subscribed to both your Substack platforms, and Ruth Ben-Ghiat's Lucid.

For decades Belgium has seen the popularity of the far right increasing. They now have their foot between the door, like in the multiple nations Joy mentioned during the session.

I am inadequate for this moment too, despite the history lessons I learned through formal education, and from visiting many WWII memorial sites in different European nations - and Israel in 2003.

Therefore, I have a continuous 'subscription' to life's university, if you will, listening and learning how to improve the opposition to the fascist movement.

I remain joyful, knowing the opposition will prevail.

I take the liberty to sharing two observations from two people who taught us much about resistance and opposition.

You should be angry. You must not be bitter. Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host. It doesn’t do anything to the object of its displeasure. So use that anger. You write it. You paint it. You dance it. You march it. You vote it. You do everything about it. You talk it. Never stop talking it.
